Description:
The Guinean health system continues to facesignificant challenges in providing access to essential health products,particularly in rural and remote communities. Despite ongoing efforts from theMinistry of Health and Public Hygiene (MSHP) and the support of variouspartners, frequent stockouts and delays in delivery persist, especially at theperipheral health facility level. Past strategies to improve the supply chainhave made some progress, but critical bottlenecks remain in the last-miledistribution stage, which is vital for efficient healthcare delivery.To address thesepersistent logistical and organizational barriers, the World Bank seeks to hirespecialized consultants to thoroughly evaluate last-mile distribution inGuinea. This comprehensive assessment will include identifying the strengths,weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT analysis), as well as formulatingactionable recommendations. The focus encompasses a range of essential healthproducts, including medicines, maternal and child health supplies, and inputsfor combating diseases such as malaria, HIV/AIDS, and tuberculosis.As part of a broaderstrategy, the MSHP, in collaboration with the SWEDD project, launched a DDKpilot project in selected districts (Labé, Kankan, and Faranah regions) to testinnovative delivery models aimed at overcoming last-mile challenges. The pilot-sprimary objective was to ensure reliable and efficient delivery of essentialgoods to underserved areas. Following an initial national evaluation in January2025, there is now a need for an independent external review to assess thepilot-s performance, extract key lessons, and provide evidence-basedrecommendations for potential scale-up or adaptation of the DDK model.
