Expression of Interest are invited for Feasibility Analysis of Agriculture Insurance Program in Guinea. Publication Date: 10-Aug-2022 Expression of Interest Deadline: 23-Aug-2022 The agricultural sector represents about 20% of Guinea's GDP, provides income to 57% of rural households and employs 52% of the workforce. The potential of agriculture for poverty reduction, economic development remains untapped. The sector remains vulnerable to production & market risks. Climate risks represent a major threat to the sector growth and the livelihoods of producers. Analysis of climate change trends predicts an increase in temperature, a decrease in precipitation. Despite such exposure, vulnerability to climate risks, major protection gaps exist as insurance sector is underdeveloped. Given the economic, social weight of agricultural sector, the development of crop insurance will play an important role in strengthening the resilience of households dependent on agriculture and facilitate farmers access to credit. Thus, the need to conduct a technical, operational, financial, feasibility study and institutional arrangement of an index-based insurance program for small and medium farmers and herders.
